What is Stand Up Paddling? | SUP | Hoe he’e nalu
It is when you have a long single blade paddle in your hand while your using it to paddle your way through the water while standing on a surf board.
Many Paddle surfers take these stand up paddle boarding sport as a great way to travel out across a lake, river, the sea, and good old fashion waves off the coast of the nearest beach.
This tradition of paddle surfing comes from Hawaii and is known in the native tongue as How he’e nalu. Most popularly used for surfing instructors teaching there students how to surf. The maneuverability added by the paddle and view obtained by standing up on the board helped them better handle a larger class of students while rearing up the next generation surfer enthusiasts. Standing up on a paddle surf board gives you a better viewpoint to see a swell, it’s faster and less tiring than laying down on the board and paddling out with your arms to catch a wave. Historically, Hoe he’e nalu is a very old form of surfing that has now become an all new sport (Or New Sport Too Us At Least) that already has recognized SUP (Stand-Up-Paddle) Celebrities like Kai Lenny who are rising stars in recent SUP Competitions.
Stand Up Paddle Boarding is a great CORE working exercise and even comes in specialized Fitness Paddles Boards. Athletic Enthusiasts all around the world have taking this sport to the nearest lakes or surf along the coast…races, competitions, and events are getting very popular. Most Especially in warmer climate area.
